OOC PREFERENCES:
•CONTACT METHOD: Pm or
•THREAD-JACKING: If it’s an open thread I’m happy with it.
•FOURTH WALLING / CANON PUNCTURE: I’m not too happy with Mystique being told she’s fictional, best to discuss it first. As for canonmates from future events feel free to tell her everything!
•BACKTAGGING: Absolutely. I have ADD so I can be a bit slow myself sometimes when my brain won’t co-operate.
•AVOIDED TOPICS: Nothing really!
•PREFERRED GENDER PRONOUN: She/her
IC CHARACTERISTICS:
•CURRENT CANON POINT: About a decade after X-Men the Last Stand.
•PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Mystique will be using two forms principally around the barge (depending on whether her Warden allows use of her powers). Firstly there is ‘Ronnie Lake’, an assumed name she’s used in the past for a human version of her own form. Ronnie is just shy of six foot, with silky blonde hair and looks that are so stunning she’s earned the label ‘the Model of the Millennium’.
It’s ironic given that the body is the same as her true mutant form but in that shape she is often seen as a monster. Her skin a deep shade of blue, Mystique’s true appearance is covered in intricate patterns of reptilian scales, her hair a slicked back shock the colour of fresh blood, while her eyes lack irises, featuring compound pupils surrounded by yellow sclera, her eyes glowing with a sinister inner light. Mystique dislikes wearing clothes, preferring to confront others with her mutant appearance, although she seemingly lacks genitalia, her scales maintaining a slight propriety.
•DEMEANOR: Mystique’s not a woman of many words. She prefers to let others do the talking and to observe quietly from the side-lines, inputting her opinion when needed. Scales cover a large part of her face, which can make it hard to gauge her expression, which in any case is often a carefully crafted inscrutable mask. Mystique isn’t particularly sociable and will often keep to herself, ignoring attempts to start a conversation or responding with one-word answers. She doesn’t trust others and sizes everyone she meets up, cataloguing their mannerisms and gathering information, just in case she needs to impersonate or manipulate them at a later date. She’ll often stare at others without blinking, seeking to make others uncomfortable with her reptilian gaze. Then there’s her voice, an unnaturally reverberating mixture of tones which render everything she says flat, making it hard to pin down her tone.
•ABILITIES: Mystique is a shapeshifter, able to become virtually any human, humanoid, animal, and some objects. Her shapeshifting is extremely accurate, as she’s able to replicate details like retina patterns, fingerprints and scent, and virtually any kind of clothing or accessory. She is capable of replicating certain physical powers such as Wolverine’s claws (although not as strong as the adamantium originals) or Toad’s tongue. Her shapeshifting grants her a number of other benefits including inhuman flexibility, enhanced strength and endurance. She can regulate her body temperature much more effectively than a human, enabling her to withstand temperature extremes without discomfort. She is also very hard to poison or drug, as her body can quickly adapt to toxins and she does not appear to age, having retained a youthful appearance for over a century. Currently Mystique's locked into her human form, unable to shapeshift and just as 'fragile' (in her view) as a regular human woman, although she can flash her eyes yellow.
•MEDICAL INFORMATION: Generally Mystique is in near perfect health. Her mutation lets her adapt quickly to poisons and pathogens, rendering her immune often before symptoms show. Her bones and muscles are stronger and denser than the human norm, whilst she has modified her internal organs to perform more efficiently, for example eliminating her period. Her senses are sharper in mutant form, and it’s possible a medical scanner might pick up on items stored in pouches inside her body. Note that she is currently locked into human form and is therefore just a regular human woman.
•CABIN INFORMATION: Mystique’s cabin is her former quarters on the Brotherhood’s island. It looks a lot like this but smaller. One wall is rocky, the other a steel burnished so brightly it's like a mirror, the whole room quite dark save for some seeming natural light that spills in from the gloom above. It is also quite cold. The cabin 'boasts' a single sized steel framed bed with a thin uncomfortable looking mattress, it doesn't look slept in. On the other side is a stainless steel desk and a chair, and in a corner is a basic steel toilet and sink attached to the metal wall. Secured by a numerical pin pad the door is a plain metal sheen, sliding open automatically to enter. There are no personal possessions of any kind, no closet for clothes, no cabinet by the sink not even a soap dish or any other products in sight, just a toilet roll on a hanger. Anyone looking for where Mystique actually stores things will have to look very closely indeed (there’s a compartment hidden within the rock wall).
•OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: Anti-mutant discrimination is a big one. If she’s called a freak to her face she will take offence (not a good thing), but generally she’s not easy to rile.
IC PERMISSIONS:
•MENTAL: Mystique is resistant to telepathy-her grey matter shifts around so much that it makes her mind impossible to read and hard to telepathically influence. She can be communicated with by telepathy, as her thoughts can be picked up on if she projects them. Often when in disguise she’ll use a mental blanket- putting out a barrier of thoughts flavoured as the person she’s disguised as. It’s often enough to fool ever a skilled telepath such as Charles Xavier, who did not detect her presence at his school.
•MIMICRY: Absolutely, go for it! Although this is more likely to be the other way around.
•VIOLENCE: I’m very open for this, Mystique likes a good fight. She’s considerably stronger than she looks, inhumanly quick and flexible, and has several centuries of combat experience both armed and unarmed. I'm happy with her being injured but please ask before inflicting a severe injury.
•MAGIC: I’m happy with magic use.
•DEBATE: Your character’s welcome to try and debate with her, I can’t guarantee she’ll engage though and if she does she aims to win ;)
•OTHER / NOTES: Don't kill her without asking! Otherwise I have a list of shapeshifting and spying permissions here.
